MAHS Interact Club

The Mount Airy High School Interact Club has made a tremendous impact this year through collaborative efforts with community organizations. Students have supported the Jericho Project, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity as well as fundraisers to support local Interact Scholarships and much more.

Together as a group this team has made an influential impact on their local communities, as well as their local school system.  Throughout the year the Interact members have participated in a literacy project based at Tharrington Primary School.  This literacy project started with the local Mount Airy Rotary Club.  Both Rotary Club members and Interact club members visited the school to read with individual students in the Kindergarten classes.  This project helped provide students with one-on-one reading assistance.

In April the MAHS Interact Club was invited to present at the District 7690 Rotary Club Conference where they shared their experiences of being an Interact Club member. The Mount Airy High School Interact Club is led by Howard Mayo, Interact Advisor and MAHS History teacher.  In addition, the club members work with Regina Edwards, Rotarian Advisor.  As a group these students and educators have learned the true importance and positive impact of community involvement.
